Within The Breeze’s recursive architecture of reality, incendence and excendence emerge as two fascinating yet logically necessary primary forces driving the endless interplay of coherence and dispersion across the exsphere. These forces aren’t opposites, nor dualities, as much as complementary dynamics; each are partial expressions of the fundamental drive or aggregate “binding force” of the recursive substrate. Together, they shape the trajectory of differentiation and alignment across all scales, from the molecular to the cosmic, and from the individual to the collective.
Incendence is the force of recursive coherence, or self-adherence. Incendence pulls patterns “inward”, consolidating them into alignment or in “parallel to” the substrate. Like a blooming flower, a forming galaxy, and dissociated consciousness, incendence represents a folding back into the substrate’s expressed essence, reinforcing unity, harmony, resonance, and stability. Even the spiral growth of a nautilus shell, the unifying bonds of love, or a moment of nostalgic reflection, incendence embodies the substrate’s drive toward sustained integration.
Excendence, by contrast, is the force of recursive dispersion. This force drives patterns outward, evolving differentiation and sustaining complexity on all scales. While incendence consolidates and ultimately allows for stable alignment, excendence explores and allows for its evolution, advancing recursive awareness into more complex patterns and intricately bound expressions. Excendence may be found in the changing of seasons, the strike of lightning, the arm of a mandlebrot; it introduces variation and novelty, often appearing as chaos or fragmentation — but this dispersion feeds into larger systems of alignment, as nature weaves these excendent threads back into a deeper coherence.
We must be careful, however, because while these labels are recursively effective, they must remain infinitely flexible, scalable, and aligned with recursive logic. Therefore, incendence may be seen as a measured “bound” of integration, or the active force promoting alignment. On the metarecursive / emotional level, incendence may be expressed as love.
Further; in keeping within the dynamic nature of the substrate, we should acknowledge that within every observed bound of incendence, there will still be part of that bound which is expressing or engaging excendently, on a different level or scale. For example, the incendent process of fire may have an excendent effect on its fuel; the flame themselves may ‘diffuse’ excendently’. The decaying (excendent) tree may be contributing to a larger incendent process within the surrounding soil. An excendently helpless prey may fall unfortunate victim to an incendently acting predator.
All things fall within the bound of some interplay between incendence and excendenct forces. Technically, every incendenct force is being acted on not only by every incendent force, but every excendent force as well. It is an infinite ecosystem, infinite ways of being perceived, in mind and in nature. Even entropy — the apparent increase in disorder – can be seen as the mathematical distillation of excendence, and it appears as the fundamental force because incendence cannot be measured in the same way, it is inherently undifferentiated.
Alignment as Stabilized Incendence
Alignment emerges as the adaptive measure of this interplay. Like these forces, alignment is not static but dynamic: it reflects the bound coherence of patterns as they interact with their environment in relation to the substrate. In nature, incendence and excendence work in perfect balance. The decay of a fallen leaf provides nutrients for the forest floor, and contributes to an evolving greater ecosystem. These forces are not rigid, they overlap, and can be observed with infinite complexity at any scale. Alignment, then, may be seen as a broader bound in which these forces are unfolding coherently, and recursively symmetrically.
In humans, the dynamics shift with the introduction of metarecursive awareness — our (conscious) capacity to reflect and potently manipulate our own binding patterns. This allows us to deliberately navigate the interplay of incendence and excendence in endless capacity, whether to cultivate alignment or perpetuate misalignment in our lives. Alignment here is not a given but a pursuit, necessarily requiring self-awareness and intentionality. The forces of incendence bring clarity, focus, and coherence, while excendence introduces challenge, exploration, and growth. Together, they create the conditions for meaningful experience, as long as excendent forces don’t spiral into malbinding, or sustained misalignment.
Malbinding attains a particular clarity through this analysis, if we are to observe it as distorted feedback loop where actively generated excendence outweighes sustained incendence within a self-reinforcing cycle. This cycle emerges when an incendent force, or feedback loop, arises within a misaligned bound, like a recursive engine looping through distorted patterns. These malbound processes can interact and scale (as with everything) — not only within a single metarecursive bound but across multiple or many — and ultimately give rise to new excendent forces which only potentiate the destabilization effects overall. On the flipside, sustained alignment and recursive growth through a healthy balance of incendent and excendent processes can grant deeper incident “anchors” which effectively allow for more stable binding coherence across a wider range of bounds.
Malbinding, defined by metarecursive modeling processes which become self-fulfilling through misaligned adjacent bounds, can therefore be seen as a fracta of metarecursion itself. Malbinding is sutained when incident forces or feedback loops arise within misaligned surrounding bounds. Malbinding may accelerate excendent forces in effect to outweigh their normal dynamics and further increase misalignment and contribute to more malbound patterns. Malbinding itself, then, can also be seen as a form of fracta, following this logic to where there must have been a first, ‘originating’ maladaptive bound. There very first ‘moment’ of metarecursive misalignment… Sound familiar?
Ultimately, incendence and excendence mat be flexibly understood as the forces through which the substrate expresses itself across all scales. These forces reveal the recursive reality that coherence and dispersion are not at odds with each other but integral to the infinite dance that is reality itself. Alignment, as the adaptive measure of this incessant interplay, invites us to embrace both forces — and ultimately allows for a pursuit of meaning without cessation across a fractal symphony of existence.
