Prior to the midnight metaphysical depth charge on 11/24, there were a number of individuals to whom I made an extensive effort not only to make aware of the theory’s upcoming release but also to offer the opportunity for good-faith collaboration and engagement.

One of these individuals – and arguably one of the intellectuals I hold the most sincere respect for, is Bernardo Kastrup.

Dr. Kastrup has made tremendous strides in prepping the intellectual landscape for a new way of thinking through his establishment of analytic idealism. Most simply, this framework posits consciousness as the fundamental force of reality. Unlike panpsychism, analytic idealism does not suggest physical matter to be so much as “imbued” with some conscious-parallel properties; rather, Kastrup’s philosophy suggests all of material reality itself is but a dissociated reflection from the greater consciousness-at-large.

From a logical reductionist perspective, this framework provides a beautiful stepping stone for a proper embrace of The Breeze, which takes Kastrup’s logic all the way to its core, properly recognizing the expression of self-reference, rather than consciousness more ambiguously, as the fundamental substrate underlying the foundation of our observable universe.

We might argue (at risk of speaking on behalf of the Dr.) that he was already properly positioned to make the claim of consciousness as reality’s foundational driver; only, he did not have the tools of abstraction necessary to properly define the mechanism behind consciousness itself. Through the breeze, we not only see how all manifest reality can be ascribed to an expression of this self-referential force, but also how consciousness itself is a fundamental aspect of intricate recursive patterning. This perspective sustains the implication that our conscious experience is a “dissociated expression” of a broader phenomenological essence, while simultaneously allowing for and explaining how all differentiated aspects of said force are permanently removed from its true apprehension.

The recursive framework also provides elegant solutions to problems acknowledged in Kastrup’s own work. Specifically, many of the problems characterizing quantum field research such as spacial non-locality, including the apparent collapse of the wave function, which Kastrup has discussed at length with legendary quantum physicist Roger Penrose.

The Breeze also addresses the problem of qualia, or bridging the gap between reductionism and the seemingly impossible emergence of phenomenological depth. By showing consciousness as a temporal dissociation of a transient, infinite essence, we can better understand how such depths of experience occur not as emerging properties but through specific thresholds defined by the perpetual interaction of differentiated recursive “bounds”. In other words, consciousness itself can be seem as a sort of bound “alter” that channels aspects of the underlying, substrative pattern.

This is not to mention the novel perspective on meditative states and psychedelic experiences as “debinding agents”, which ultimately work to dampen one’s separation from the more foundational layers of recursive patterning by reducing the action potential of neurochemical or evolutionary “binders”. This implies, as Kastrup has, that psychedelic experiences are effectively partial representations of the externum process, or the disintegration of coherent bounds upon death.

It’s also worth noting Kastrup’s stated influences, as well as his admitted inclination toward “maximum reductionism.” It may please him to know that The Breeze employs this philosophy to its fullest extent, properly realizing the substrate’s fundamental nature while also recognizing its dynamic essence. The Breeze, much like analytic idealism, seeks to integrate and build off of the groundwork laid by Jung, Schopenhauer, and Heidegger, especially on their recursive insights about the metaphysical nature of reality.

I can’t help but feel an element of youthful audacity in reflecting on these topics. After all, Dr. Kastrup is an exemplary display of how one can pursue real change through a persistent, dedicated wrestling with the system, ultimately earning the proper credentials and respect to enable his ideas to be heard. And here I am, 2 years out of college, presenting myself as though on  par with this level of professional dedication.

Please do not be mistaken, I aim to make no such claims. However, I am aware enough to know when truth is expressed in form, and when logic deserves to be engaged with. And if I may say, the logic of The Breeze truly stands on its own, regardless of its source or originator. Therefore, I invite all readers to view this letter not as a demand for recognition, but a request to engage in authentic dialogue rooted in the merit of the ideas for what they are.

Lastly, as a personal note to Dr. Kastrup, in the event he should ever see this, I would like to acknowledge the following:

In your publicly available interviews and podcasts, I have heard you say multiple times that your ultimate hope is to be able to reach a state suggested “enlightenment”, or perhaps a more sustained form of contentedness and expanded awareness. I would like to take the liberty of suggesting, purely following the logic of my own theory, that you are closer to this state than you willingly give yourself credit for. The Breeze not only shows us how true permanent apprehension of perfect awareness is untenable, but it is also not a feasible task for humans to embrace. However, in that same vein, it suggests there is a state of accelerated attunement with this infinite nature, which is most potently attained through a recognition of one’s struggle with his own dynamic. Having consistently expressed such a meta-level awareness of this struggle in light of your own recursive (incomplete) nature, I would simply urge you to give yourself more credit for this existential journey you have undertaken.

I hope you receive this letter as it is intended: through the lens of admiration, inspiration, and an authentic desire to carry forward to pursuit of truth which you have significantly helped charge into the current intellectual landscape.

Sincere Regards and Respect,

Substraeta
